How SEND Navigate collects, uses, and protects your personal data.
Last updated: June 2026
SEND Navigate is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who We Are
SEND Navigate is operated by Stephen Mallett, trading as SEND Navigate. Our website is sendnavigate.org and our contact email is stephen@sendnavigate.com.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Stephen Mallett (SEND Navigate) is the data controller responsible for your personal data.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect personal data in the following ways:
2.1 Data You Provide Directly
- Email address and name — when you sign up to receive our free parent guide, workbook, or email newsletter via our MailerLite signup forms.
- Name, email address, and details about your child's SEND situation — when you submit an enquiry form on our advisory services page or contact us directly by email.
- Booking information — when you book a free 15-minute call via our Google Calendar booking link, Google collects your name and email address in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
2.2 Data Collected Automatically
- Analytics data — we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website. This includes pages visited, time on site, device type, and approximate geographic location. This data is anonymised and aggregated; it does not identify you personally.
- Cookies — Google Analytics sets cookies on your browser to distinguish users and sessions. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the personal data we collect for the following purposes:
- To send you the free parent guide, workbook, or resources you requested.
- To send you a short follow-up email series related to SEND Navigate resources and services (where you have opted in).
- To respond to enquiries about our advisory services.
- To arrange and conduct consultations and advisory sessions.
- To improve our website and understand which content is most useful to our visitors.
We will never sell your personal data to third parties. We will never share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases for processing your personal data:
- Consent — when you sign up for our email list, you are giving us your consent to contact you. You can withdraw this consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send you.
- Legitimate interests — for analytics and website improvement, where our interest in understanding how our site is used does not override your rights and freedoms.
- Contract performance — when you engage us for advisory services, we process your data as necessary to deliver those services.
5. Data Retention
- Email subscribers — your data is retained in our MailerLite account for as long as you remain subscribed. You may unsubscribe at any time.
- Advisory clients — documents and correspondence relating to your case are retained for the duration of the engagement and deleted at the end of the engagement, unless you request otherwise or we are required by law to retain them.
- Analytics data — Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default.
6. Third-Party Services
